With a mission to raise awareness of heritage and history among young people, our team of cultural mediators offers numerous activities for school children from kindergarten to high school.
Nearly 5000 students are received each year at Belleperche Abbey to participate in activities.

COURSE OF THE VISITS

The most popular format is the workshop visit of 2 hours. It combines a visit to a themed space and a visual arts workshop allowing students, through practice, to reinvest the concepts mentioned during the visit (drawing, modeling, painting…).

Other tour options are possible: interactive quizzes, treasure hunts...


TOUR THEMES

  • The abbey and its history

Evocation of the life of monks in a Cistercian abbey, work around the materials and architectural forms of the Middle Ages and the 18th century.
Possible workshops : making clay paving tiles, creations around the theme of the imprint.

  • The culinary arts from the Middle Ages to the present day

Comparison between ancient and modern ways of eating. Discussion about the forms and functions of objects. Highlighting the role of the shared meal in social life.
Possible workshops : object decoration, blind tests, tastings.

  • The scholar's studio

Handling writing tools in the Middle Ages. Visit to a faithful reproduction of a late 14th-century studiolo.
Workshop : Medieval calligraphy.

  • China and its legends

Discover Chinese legends and traditional bestiary through the objects in the exhibition "The Earth and Tea" .
Possible workshops : Chinese decorations, working with Chinese ink, tea ceremony.

  • Graffiti at the abbey

Work on the graffiti of the old hotel and on the history of writing.
Possible workshops : calligraphy, drawing, engraving.

GRAMONT CASTLE

  • Following your visit to the Museum of Table Arts, deepen your knowledge of medieval and Renaissance cuisine with the " Flavours of Yesteryear" workshop .
  • Discover the Middle Ages: a visit to Belleperche Abbey and monastic life followed by a visit to Gramont Castle and lordly life .
  • Visits, games, workshops... The formula between our two monuments can be invented on a day-by-day basis.

THE FERMAT MUSEUM IN BEAUMONT-DE-LOMAGNE

  • After discovering Belleperche Abbey, continue your journey around heritage by visiting the Fermat Museum located in the birthplace of the mathematician Pierre de Fermat.
  • Discover the exhibition "The table is set!" at the Museum of Table Arts, then head to the Fermat Museum to discover the exhibition " In my kitchen", an interactive exhibition that demonstrates how everyday culinary gestures mobilize complex concepts of mathematics and computer science .
  • Visits, games, workshops... the formula between our two sites can be invented for the day.
